Clue #1

I had a pretty happy year last year, creative-wise. I designed 18 patterns, with an additional free pattern, a pattern for a magazine, and the first pattern for the Bag of the Month Club (so in all, 21 bag patterns for the year!). Writing patterns for me is one of the most enjoyable things ever. Over my breakfast this morning, I tried to think of a good comparison for this, as most of you will probably look at me like I am crazy. As a lifelong reader (which has taken a backseat because in the evenings I am nearly always sewing), I can compare my pattern-writing mania to being on the last chapter of an amazing book; if you had to put the book down, you are itching or perhaps even obsessed with picking it back up and finishing up that chapter. That’s how I feel about pattern-writing.

The last 2 months I have been embarking on an all-new adventure. In December and January, I certainly tested my brain to the limit. I had to learn a lot of new things. And something that I had previously used a lot, I had to learn to look at it in a completely different way. It was a really humbling experience and something that I continue to work at every week as I don’t want to just know enough to get me by, but I want to learn more and more about it.

So, during the month of February, I will continue to drop little hints about my secret project. Or maybe you can guess? I’ll tell you all about it in March. I’m incredibly excited!!

Clue #1 – This tool and I became quite good friends during this project. It has a bit of a funny smell, I have to admit. My kids came at it with scissors and I almost had a heart attack.

I am SO EXCITED about this new project, and I can’t wait to tell you everything about it. It is certainly a dream come true and the opportunity of a lifetime!

Any guesses? 🙂

I too have been thinking that you’ve been working on designing your first fabric line.

  15. It looks like pieces of yarn stretched tight in varying thicknesses, it looks like its pilling slightly. This would work with the scissors comment. However I can’t imagine what it would be and the colours are in perfect stripes with it. Hmm…….

  16. Beth says:

    I think I might know….so I will not “guess” ;). I can’t wait for March.

  17. I’ve now seen the projects that have followed this post on your blog and given the varying widths between those strings …… Are you designing a range of ribbons?

  18. I’m guessing screen prints 🙂
