Hi Sara – I just finished the Kennedy Bag as a birthday gift for my daughter. I changed out the buckles for buttons. It suited her better. Love your patterns and this one is my favorite so far. I wish I could show you a picture!

  14. I just made this bag, but I had to adjust it a little as I didn’t have all the accessories. I still love how it turned out! Many thanks! Blogged here: http://littleswedeheart.com/2014/06/12/bird-messenger-bag-kennedy-bag-pattern/

  18. Rose says:

I love this bag! I made a few adjustments to personalize it, but overall LOVE the pattern and how easy the instructions were to follow. Thank you!

  19. Judy Churchill says:

I didn’t find the instructions in some places very clear at all. Had to contact Sarah twice and as yet she hasn’t had the courtesy to reply to my second request for help. Not the way to run a business as you have to take criticism.

Thank you for the free Kennedy Bag. I have been working with vinyl today from Aussie Craft & Vinyl Supplies, it is beautiful to use. I have never sewn anything like vinyl before, I found it very easy.

  21. Robin Walker says:

Another comment, as I just looked at the Kennedy Bag. The vinyl would be great as trim on this bag. Oh I can picture it in my head……lol

Thank you Sara for the free Kennedy bag pattern, when I have finished knitting 2 panda,s for Christmas gifts and the Mandy Shaw fairy for our Christmas tree I plan to make the Kennedy bag. It’s a geat pattern. You are so talented. I try to watch all your shows live but as I live in England and the time difference is 5 hours I some time fall asleep. Your show airs at 2am in the morning for us Brits.

  23. Brenda Kenney says:

Thank you for the Kennedy bag pattern. I love your live shows ( when I can keep awaker, I am in the UK), look for them on You Tube later Thanks again.

    1. Sara Lawson says:

      Thank you Brenda! Happy sewing!

  24. Pat Wolcott, Rescue, CA says:

I really enjoyed your tutorial….you explain everything very well and have a very pleasant voice. I have a question…What is the purpose of sewing a 1/2 inch seam if you are going to trim it to 1/4 inch? Thank you for your generous patterns.

    1. Sara Lawson says:

Thank you Pat! In larger bags, I find it personally helpful to sew with a bigger seam allowance and then trim it down because you have a bit more to hang onto and also a bit of wiggle room (in case your fabric slips, etc.). Hope this helps!

  25. Michelle Hill says:

I printed out the pattern a couple months ago and it was different. With the green bag on the front rather than the blue bag that is there now. So my pattern pieces fit on one page but I need to reprint a couple of the pieces because I accidentally printed double sided so now the pattern is different. The way this new version shows on my computer the pattern pieces are chopped up onto multiple pages. That means I would have to tape pieces of pattern together. Is that the way it should really be?

  26. Michelle Hill says:

Oh I know what the problem is. I got the pattern from Blueprint rather than this site. But it seems likes the Blueprint pattern is missing parts. I don’t see the Exterior bottom panel anywhere in the pattern.

    1. Sara Lawson says:

Hi Michelle! In my patterns, all squares and rectangles are not represented by pattern pieces; the measurements for these pieces are called out in the Cutting Instructions for easy rotary cutting.

      1. Michelle Hill says:

Thanks. Just saw your reply. I finally figured it out. I’m a beginner and I think sometimes things like that are not a given. So I don’t understand at first. But I got it. Thanks.

  27. Michelle Hill says:

Sorry for all the comments. I think I get it now. You just cut the other pieces to size like it says in the instructions.

  28. Kris says:

Thank you so much for the trouble of designing the bag, making it available for free download, AND making a video. I’m a beginner sewer and often instructions are daunting and confusing, but you make it look easy. I’m going to try this bag in the next week or so and if it isn’t too horrible, will post it on your Facebook page.

Have a wonderful day and weekend!
    Kris
