Tumble Tee

Today, I’m taking part in the Tumble Tee Tour for my friend Rachael’s pdf sewing pattern for the Tumble Tee, a knit shirt/dress for girls sizes 6 months to 10 years.

I chose to make size five for my daughter, and that size printed out 12 pages that I needed to trim and tape together to get the full-sized pattern pieces. From there, there are options to make a colorblock dress (which will require all four of the pattern pieces), a solid dress, a colorblock shirt, or a solid shirt (which is the option that I chose).

I used a purple polka dot jersey knit that I had on hand, and it was probably a little stiffer than I would have liked; I ordered it online and of course you can’t feel the fabric until it arrives, lol.

Between cutting and sewing, this top only took me an hour to make, which is amazing! I serged the sewn edges, but you can also zig-zag finish them on your regular sewing machine. There are tips in the pattern for working with knits, if you have never sewn with them before. I’d gauge this as a beginner level pattern for the ease in sewing and fitting the finished product.

I can imagine this pattern being really great done up in some of those cool Euro knit fabrics you see sometimes on Etsy. The colorblock shirt or dress would be really cool done up like that!!

Thank you so much for having me, Rachael!! You can see the other stops on the Tumble Tee Tour as well!
