Welcome to Week 7, Block 3 of the New York Beauty Quilt Along! The last few blocks are looming on the horizon! How many have you done?? If you’re just joining and would like to catch up on the blocks, feel free, and post your questions and progress to the Flickr Group!

The tutorial for Block 3 was written by Katy of The Littlest Thistle. Katy has a great foundation piecing technique to show you today that you can add to your bag of tricks! As you can see, she uses a cutting guide made from the paper template, in order to save fabric and plan out her block. It’s very detailed, and will get you on your way in no time! Check out the tutorial for the block here! I think her block in Oakshott cottons looks amazing!

can’t believe that’s not foundation pieced? it’s lovely!! I often wondered about what you do with the outer curve and it’s good to see and makes sense that it’s 2 pieces…..

Oh wow! I love your color choices!

I love your color choices, particularly the green at the bottom. While I was looking at this block, I realized that if you turn it 90 degrees, the center will look like a big round mouth full of pointy teeth going “Om nom nom!!!” and now I can’t un-see it! Which for me just makes this block even cooler…
