Last-Minute Table Cloth

I hope all my friends in the U.S. had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Did you eat enough? Shop enough?

We had dinner at our house for the first time. I wanted to use the Anna Maria Horner fabric below for a tablecloth, but my friend Kim told me it was too good to chance having food spilled on. 😉

So I ran out to Joann’s on Wednesday and got 4 yards of this mod blue fabric…pretty cool, plus I wanted to get something multi-purpose (i.e. something I could use for any gathering, not just Thanksgiving or Christmas). I just hemmed the edges and threw that sucker down on the 2 tables that we had pushed together.

BEFORE: Kitchen (yes, my kids had to get in all the ‘before’ photos from when we first moved in, lol)

To throw a wrench into everything, my husband decided to paint the kitchen and replace the cabinet door hardware the week of Thanksgiving. He stayed up 3 nights in a row until around 3am, but I think it was worth it…the photo above is the ‘Before’ shot, and the photo below is the ‘After’ finished results. I love the kitchen, it’s so much brighter now!

AFTER: Kitchen

I also got a couple of great after-Thanksgiving fabric deals too, which made me super happy! You can find deals in the Black Friday thread on this Flickr Group. What deals did you get?

Once our appartment is sold (sooooon, please please!), we have agreed to buy my parents-in-law’s house, and I have thought about doing the same thing to their kitchen, as it basically is a very good kitchen. Thank you for visualising my thoughts: It looks great!!

That kitchen looks fab, and love the table cloth. Oh, and get some iron-on laminiating stuff, then you can spill whatever you like on the good fabric and wipe it right off :oD

Hubby did a nice job on the kitchen. And great thinking for the table cloth. I have a really nice one from India but I haveyet to actually use it for the same reason….I don’t want it all stained up.
