Jamie Dress Sew Along: Inspiration

Amanda from Kitschy Coo

The first dresses for the Sis Boom Jamie Dress Sew Along have rolled in! I thought you might like to see in case you are about to start on yours (or it’s not too late to join in! Prizes, ding ding!).

Amanda from Kitschy Coo

Dang she’s fast. 🙂 Amanda from Kitschy Coo has turned out this lovely rendition…check out her site to see the rundown of how she felt about making the dress and what she liked and didn’t like about the final product.    Amanda also made a second dress and is working on a third.

Vision in Amy Butler from Lindsay Sews

Lindsay made this beautiful dress from Amy Butler Bali Gate fabric. What a great fabric choice, the dress looks stunning!! Lindsay says, “Overall, I found this pattern pretty easy to follow…what a sense of accomplishment!”

Kim’s Jamie Dress…top!

My friend, Kim, just started blogging last month (it was about time). Already, I feel like her blog has surpassed mine in quality of photography and content, lol!! Kim just had to be different and make a top out of hers <grin>, and you also may notice that she took most of the gathers out of the “skirt” portion.

I wanted to show Jenn’s dress, but either it’s my own mental stumbling block or it really is copyrighted, but please pop on over to the link to check it out!!

Meredith from See Mer Sew

Meredith  made this beautiful dress from some super-sweet Jennifer Paganelli fabric! This was her first sewn dress, and she even  used an invisible zipper! Meredith has some thoughts about what she’d change in a future dress, on her blog.

“Langes Fädchen, Faules Mädchen,” Blog, translates as “long thread, lazy girl.”(lol…which is totally what I do also…using a longer thread for your hand-sewing needle so you don’t have to thread it so often!)

Lina made this awesome version in Joel Dewberry’s new Aviary 2 fabrics. I love the contrasting waistband. She has a lot of thoughts on her blog about her dress. Lina, I am also a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl but I told my husband I made so many dresses so that it forces me to wear something else this summer (with 2 small children I feel like I get in a rut with my “uniform”, lol).

And that’s what I’ve got so far! I hope this has inspired you to start or continue on with your dress! Try it on try it on try it on! While you’re working, try it on after every major step to make sure you’re on track for how it fits and how it lays on your body. If you don’t like something, it’s easier to change things along the way than to completely finish it and have to rip out a lot of seams! Check out the Flickr group for everyone’s helpful suggestions!

Thanks for all the inspiration, make me want to work on mine some more.

Not sure if Jenn changed her settings, but I’m able to grab the HTML for the picture, so you might be able to share it now.

Is it just me, or is Meredith’s fabric the same as is on the pattern (or at least your button?)?!

Thanks so much for featuring mine. I got a lot of inspiration from everyone else’s versions so I’m sure this post will help others out. “She has a lot of thoughts” is a very nice way of saying, “Man, that girl can’t ever just write a short, simple post, can she?” 🙂 Thanks again for hosting this fun sew along and getting a lot of us to try something new with our sewing machines. All of your tips and posts really helped.
