Bottled Rainbows: Cerise Block

I was a bit late getting in on the Bottled Rainbows Quilt Along. I got a few of my Kona solids over the weekend, so I figured it was about time to start.

I made the cerise block first. I know it might sound crazy, but this block was so freaking fun to put together! It’s fun picking out the scraps to match the block color, it’s fun assembling them like a puzzle, and it’s fun sewing them down with a zig-zag stitch. The best part? The block is now completely quilted! Yep, that’s right, the back of the block is a piece of batting, so my most dreaded part of making a quilt is just about finished when I’m done with the block (eh, alright, I do have to attach the backing to the quilt top at the end, but I’m just planning on doing a stitch-in-the-ditch at the seams, so it’s going to be pretty painless).

Wanna do this too? It’s not too late to join in…this quilt along is running through June. 🙂

I too am late getting started on the Bottled Rainbows quilt. I ordered Kona Solids from Pink Chalk and should be getting them this week. I really like your block. I am trying to decide if I should go for all large pieces or a mix of large and small. I guess it will depend on my stash of scraps.
